Introduction: In January 2006 I began writing the first book of the Wolf Pack Chronicles, Shadows of the Forest. What would drive me to undertake such a monumental task? My children. All three of my daughters are avid readers of fantasy and fiction of all sorts. In talking with them, I realized the ultimate reading experience would be one where THEY are the main characters in the story. In the Wolf Pack Chronicles my three daughters are characters that will grow and develop as they do in life.

Stewards of the Forest

Since the foundation of the world, wolf packs have been the stewards of the forest, maintaining the balance of nature and protecting its secrets. Ancient prophecies from pack Shamans of old foretell the coming of the chosen.  The ones who will become brothers to the wolf packs and strengthen the forest. But an ancient evil is growing beyond the boarders of Wolf Mountain, a power that threatens the forest and has the power to destroy the chosen. The wolf council realizes they have only a small part of the ancient prophecies and must recover the lost parts in order to defeat the coming darkness. If the wolf packs fail, the forest and the chosen will be lost forever.

Jessica is Dawnfire – Female Alpha of the Dawn Pack and a master of fire, she is mate to Firewalker a strong and bold leader. The Dawn Pack is gifted with the power over fire, and live on the Great Plains.  They are the oldest of all the wolf packs, and are able to trace their linage back to the dawn of the Forest.  They are a very proud pack., and consider themselves the only true born of the original chosen stewards of the forest. To the Dawn Pack, all other packs are inferior with watered down bloodlines, and all must prove they are worthy of their stewardship.  Wolves in the Dawn Pack have a golden or reddish tint to their fur, and a burning flame is set deep in their eyes.

Riley is Shadowwind – Daughter of the Shadow Pack Alphas - Shadowfang and Whiteluna. Somewhat shy and soft spoken, until you get to know her.  She holds the rank of Wolf’en, a pack warrior.  The Shadow Pack is the smallest of all the Council Packs, but they  are considered by many to be the most dangerous.  They are gifted with power over shadows and stone, and live by their stealth, quick maneuverability, and deadly fighting skills.  They are known as the “Watchers of the Forest”, constantly on the move and ever watchful of dangers that may enter or threaten the forest. They train from birth in the art of earth and shadows.  By the time they reach adulthood they can move unseen and undetected over any ground. Their fighting techniques are quick, lethal surgical strikes that can take down the largest of foes.  It is said that members of the Shadow Pack can kill with a single touch, and know how to hide their scent from others.

Amanda is Ghostsong – Once an Omega in the Ghost Pack, but is now the Shaman’s apprentice.  Cloudwalker saw  a hidden strength in her, and when she was old enough he claimed Ghostsong as his apprentice.  Despite the protests of other pack members, his decision was final. It was hard for Ghostsong at first, but she slowly chipped away her submissiveness to reveal something new.  Her personality emerged, revealing a fierce and bold temper that few would enjoy tangling with. Her underline defiance of leadership has gotten her into more trouble than the rest of the entire pack combined. Still Cloudwalker insisted on kept her under his tutelage, patiently helping her understand that true strength comes without aggression. The Ghost Pack is considered to be the most mystical of all the wolf packs, and from them the first Shamans emerged. It is rumored they can control the deepest powers of the forest. and have power over growth, time, and even life itself.  They have been given many un-natural and hidden gifts, which include talking with spirits of the past. They live in the mists surrounding the sacrid Wolf Mountain. Much is still unknown about the Ghost Pack, but its members are easily recognized. Their eyes hold the moons eerie reflection, even when the moon is not present, evidence that they have seen beyond the material realm.
